Alabama’s top middle and elementary schools were included on the 2020 Niche list of the nation’s best schools.

The rankings were determined by state test scores, student-teacher ratio, student diversity, teacher quality, middle and elementary school ratings, and the overall quality of the school district. You can read the methodology here.

Here are the top 25 middle schools as identified by Niche:

1. Mt. Brook Junior High School - Mt. Brook City, 1,052 students

2. Discovery Middle School – Madison City, 814 students

3. Homewood Middle School – Homewood City Schools, 928 students

4. Liberty Middle School – Madison City, 886 students

5. Robert F. Bumpus Middle School – Hoover City, 850 students

6. Berry Middle School – Hoover City, 1,142 students

7. Ira F. Simmons Middle School – Hoover City, 811 students

8. Drake Middle School – Auburn City, 1,304 students

9. Auburn Junior High School – Auburn City Schools, 1,233 students

10. Muscle Shoals Middle School – Muscle Shoals City, 670 students
