The football team has reached the playoffs for 10 consecutive years, reached the AHSAA State Championship twice, and has compiled a record of 91-30. Many former Spartans are now representing Saraland at the college level every Saturday.
Before coming to Saraland, he led Jackson to a 32-8 record in three years and capped it with a trip to the 2009 State Championship.
Kelly is an alumnus of Southern Mississippi where he obtained a BSBA, as well as an MBA from their Business School. He was also record setting QB for the Golden Eagles, starting 38 consecutive games. Kelly was a Draddy Award Finalist, two time C-USA Scholar Athlete of the Year, NCAA Division 1 Male Student Athlete of the Year, and winner of the esteemed Swayze Award (given to Mississippi's top finance student). After his time at USM, he was drafted in 2001 by the Seattle Seahawks where he spent two years.
