ALL kindergarten and first grade students participate in the advocacy program mentored by a well-known SEEC adult teacher. Teachers serve as mentors who are supportive and caring adults. They are role models that spend quality time with the student to make a positive change in his or her life. Mentors also serve as a thought partner for students on their academic journey. The ultimate goal of the advocacy program is to increase student success and high school graduation rates by improving the students’ self-esteem, attitude towards school, attendance and academic performance.
