Title I is the largest federal education program in the United States designed to support public schools. Under Title I, funding is allocated to school districts based on the number of low-income families within each district. This funding is utilized to provide additional educational services to students who require the most assistance. The primary objective of the Title I program is to ensure that every child receives a high-quality education and meets the rigorous academic standards established by the State of Alabama.
Being designated as a Title I school means receiving federal funding, known as Title I dollars, to enhance the school's existing programs. These funds are allocated for the following purposes:
-
Identifying students facing academic challenges and providing timely support to help them meet the state's demanding content standards.
-
Purchasing supplemental staff, programs, materials, and supplies.
-
Conducting parent and family engagement meetings, training sessions, and activities.
