• Saraland City School System offers the following Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs for all students regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, or disability: Business Information Technology, Coast Guard JROTC, CTE Engineering, Hospitality and Tourism, Health Science, Educators in Training, and Welding. Additionally, students may take CTE courses focused on commercial construction through a partnership with the Academy of Craft Training.
Microsoft Office Specialist, Python Programming, Guest Services Pro, NCCER Core, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) are examples of credential opportunities offered to Saraland High School students. Earning a credential provides proof of a student's industry knowledge and skills to potential employers. A career tech credential also meets the requirement of a College and Career Readiness Indicator.
The career coach and transition coach work collaboratively with CTE teachers to develop positive working relationships with business and industry within the Saraland community and surrounding area. CTE advisory council meetings are held twice a year to ensure CTE programs align to workforce needs by providing career-connected learning.
