March 31, 2010 NEW IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS FOR 6TH GRADERS Dear Parents, The Alabama Department of Public Health has announced new revisions for immunization for children in the state of Alabama. Students will be required to have vaccinations before entering the 6th grade, which include the Tetanus booster. Also, the other changes include new requirements for pre-k and kindergarten students with the PCV (Pneumococcal vaccination). Please see the attached notification for parents and also contact your physician or the Mobile County Health Department (690-8888) for an appointment regarding the updated shots needed for your child. If you have any questions you may contact me at 331-4642. Saraland City Schools is required to follow all state mandated vaccination requirements for all students.
